KFL Director to Teach Screenwriting at Spalding University
Brad Riddell, a founding director of the Kentucky Film Lab, has been hired as a member of the screenwriting faculty in Spalding University's Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Writing Program. He will begin working with students at the end of May.
Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Spalding offers MFA concentrations in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, writing for children, playwriting, and screenwriting. It is a brief-residency program, meaning students and faculty convene in Louisville for ten days to begin each semester, then correspond regularly via phone, email, audio tape, and letters, to complete the required coursework. The faculty in each concentration consists of working, published writers hailing from across the country and around the world.
About his new position, Riddell said, "I'm honored to join Spalding's tremendously accomplished faculty, and to be a part of a growing force in Kentucky film education."
Sena Jeter Naslund, Spalding's MFA in Writing Program Director and author of Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette, Four Spirits, and Ahab's Wife, commented that "with his connections to both California and Kentucky filmmaking, and his academic and practical experience, Brad Riddell is an exciting addition to our growing screenwriting program in the Spalding Master of Fine Arts in Writing."
In addition to his work with Spalding and the Kentucky Film Lab, Riddell is an active screenwriter and continues to teach screenwriting at the University of Southern California.
